From the winter of 2014, thirteen emerging artists have conducted field trips to an empty schoolhouse in the scenic, rural community of Kalv. With 380 inhabitants, surrounded by forests, agricultural landscapes and a lake shaped like a calf, Kalv once provided important trade routes between Sweden and the continent. The artists from Nepal, the USA, Jamaica/UK, Canada, Iceland, Iran, Finland, and Sweden have developed works that comment on, reinterpret and activate the historical, economical, educational, cultural and spiritual past, present and possible future of Kalv. A Temporary Roof includes painting, collage, installation, video and performance and will transform the old schoolhouse into a place of discussion, reflection and transformative encounters.
